Again our dogs spent January in Southeastern Arizona with Bruce Minard of Hi Five Kennels . Working the dogs on wild mearns quail in the canyons of the Coronado National Forest is very similar to working them on wild grouse up here in the northern latitudes which effectively ceases when the temps fall too low and the snow piles too high. Mearns country is very similar to grouse country in terms of cover. Emory oak and juniper trees mimicking popple and pines, while the yellow grass and yucca mimics the under story. This is great training for grouse dogs.
February, Bruce and the dogs will continue their training. Mary-Beth and Brian are looking forward to the spring trial season.

Fireside Kennels North
Fall of 2009 brought the addition of Fireside North. In the heart of northern Wisconsin's Ruffed Grouse country. Brian and Mary-Beth have added this facility to have easy access to wild bird training all year long except for the nesting season. Over the summer of 2011 Brian and Mary-Beth will continue to be improving these facilities to ensure the ease of care, comfort and cleanliness of the dogs.
